SPS – Who We Are
The Serbian Psychological Society is the leading professional organization representing psychologists in Serbia, with a distinguished tradition spanning more than seven decades. As a central pillar of the national psychological community, the Society brings together experts from across research, practice, and education, fostering dialogue, innovation, and professional excellence.
Committed to advancing psychology as both a scientific discipline and a professional practice, the Society promotes the highest standards of competence, ethics, and evidence-based work. Through its long-standing institutional initiatives, the Society actively contributes to the development and dissemination of psychological knowledge. As the founder of the Center for Applied Psychology, it supports the publication of specialized literature and psychological assessment instruments. It also publishes the internationally recognized scientific journal “Psihologija” and the professional bulletin Psychological News, and proudly organizes the Congress of Psychologists of Serbia-the country’s prominent scientific and professional gathering in the field.
The Society is a key advocate for the advancement of the profession, actively contributing to the development of the legal framework governing psychological practice and to the protection of service users’ rights. It has been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at adopting a new Law on Psychological Practice, with the long-term vision of establishing a Chamber of Psychologists as a regulatory body.
International collaboration is a cornerstone of the Society’s work. As a member of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) since 2007, the Serbian Psychological Society is actively engaged in the European psychological community, contributing to shared standards, knowledge exchange, and the continued growth of the discipline.
